Saturday Morning with the Squirrels

This morning, I woke up to squirrels at the bird feeder.

Normally, Manny keeps this sort of thing in check. He sits at the window and barks loudly whenever one of the squirrels climbs up the screen or shimmies down the hook. Sometimes the squirrels listen to him, and sometimes they ignore him, but, overall, Manny keeps things from getting out of hand.

But not today. Today, Manny slept in. And, while I tried to take on his role, hollering at the squirrels and tapping on the glass, I had very little success.

I must not have seemed very threatening.

Never mind. If the squirrels were determined to stick around, I decided I might as well take some pictures of them. So, I grabbed my phone.

And, they didn’t pay any attention to that either.

From the dining room table, hoping to get close-ups of the chipmunks next,

  1. You could spend hours just looking at all the nature outside your window. I know I would.

    • It’s easy to get caught up watching the comings and goings for sure!

  2. Wowwww….concerned this little face might have squirrel parapox. I see raised bumps near the whiskers in the last photo. Not fatal in grey squirrels, so he should be fine. (And not congatagious to humans, dogs, kitties, fish, frogs, chickens, rabbits.) Cute little guy, though!

    • We had noticed that and thought it might be a scar or something. Glad it’s not a fatal sort of thing. We’ve gotten a bit attached to the squirrels – despite their being pests at times.
